Auto insurance through this program may not be the best for everyone. Therefore it is not a guaranteed coverage and you may not qualify based on state regulations, driving record, types of coverage you need, the people who need to be insured and applicable underwriting guidelines.

The auto insurance provided through the program is provided as part of your employment with Johns Hopkins University. For this reason, there are several advantages to purchasing auto insurance through the Johns Hopkins University Voluntary Benefit Program:

  • Special group discounts** can save you money.
  • Convenient payroll deduction of your premiums.
  • Special discounts including a payroll deduction discount.

You can also get insurance for:

  • Motorcycles
  • Recreational vehicles
  • Campers
  • Travel Trailers

  • Personal Articles
  • Boat

Overall, this program provides high-quality insurance at competitive rates to most people. Because auto insurance is based on several factors including the state you live in, your driving history, your vehicle, who's insured and many other factors, this insurance may not give you the lowest rate, but don't you owe it to yourself and your hard-earned money to find out?

Call the toll-free number listed in the Contacts section of this Web site to speak to a claims representative. Always call as soon as possible, regardless of who is at fault. Find out whether you're covered for this loss. Even if the accident appears minor, it is important that you let your insurance company know about the incident.

You can apply for coverage anytime after the date you are eligible for benefits. There are no enrollment deadlines.

In most cases your auto insurance can start the day after you apply for coverage over the phone. It can also begin at a later date designated by you. It’s up to you. Just speak with the insurance counselor to decide when you want your coverage to begin. If you want your new coverage or a change in coverage to take place sooner rather than later, we can fax you temporary insurance cards. Your permanent cards will be mailed directly to you.

Changing your policy is as easy as a phone call to one of our specially-trained insurance counselors. Call the toll-free number listed in the Contacts section of this website.

The auto insurance carriers are MetLife Auto & Home®, Travelers Insurance Company, Liberty Mutual and Safeco® Insurance.

Note: Not all companies are available in all states.

You can apply for auto insurance through this program if you are a full-time active employee of Johns Hopkins University. Also, you must have a valid U.S. driver’s license. If you can apply, you may also apply for insurance for dependent children who reside in your household.
